The so-called "City of Lakes" or the "Venice of the East" is located in the state of Rajasthan and is considered by many to be one of the most romantic cities in India. Jewel of the Mewar kingdom, which encompassed part of the Aravali Mountains, Udaipur has up to five lakes that feed its status as "Venice of the East" thanks to its magical panoramas, only interrupted by ancient palaces converted today into the best definition of luxury and splendor. From the medieval charm of the 11 palaces encompassing the famous City Palace, to the 19 chhatris (or Rajasthani cenotaphys) that make up the mausoleum of Ahar, to its Monsoon Palace, erected on top of a hill, Udaipur oozes history on its four sides. A city that invites you to stroll through its streets and admire its craftsmanship, overlook balconies of another time from which to feel part of a lush royal line but, especially, finish any route on Lake Pichola, the heart of Udaipur. An artificial lake whose islets have different resorts including The Leela Palace Udaipur and especially The Taj Lake Palace, two of India's most luxurious hotels.
