Day 4: Kourion, Paphos

BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL KOURION OLD TOWN The city-kingdom was established on the local hills and controlled the Kouris River's fertile valley. According to archaeological discoveries, Kourion was connected to the Greek myth of Argos of the Peloponnese. In 365 AD the once-prosperous empire was destroyed by a powerful earthquake. The magnificent Greco-Roman theater, which is the centerpiece of the site, was built in the 2nd century BC. C. and expanded in the second century AD. The theater has been restored and is now used for outdoor musical and theatrical performances, mainly during the summer months, making it one of the most popular venues for high-caliber cultural events. LUNCH AT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT (EUROPEAN) PAPHOS CITY TOUR Our first stop will be at the Rock of Aphrodite, where the Goddess of Love and Beauty was born. Then we will continue to Paphos, the ancient capital of Cyprus, where we will have the opportunity to see the private houses of the late Roman period with fascinating mosaics that are considered the best, not only in the Mediterranean area but in the whole world since they are very well preserved. Then we will visit the Tombs of the Kings, where you can walk through the catacombs and into the caves and chambers: El Pilar de San Pablo, the House of Dionysus, and the catacombs of San Salomón. You will stroll through the old port area of Paphos with attractive restaurants and cafes. TRADITIONAL LOUKOUMI TASTING Loukoumi Geroskipou is a type of flavored lokum rahat that is made from sugar within the boundaries of Geroskipou Township. It can be flavored with rose, strawberry, tangerine, orange, mint, pineapple, bergamot, banana, pistachio, lemon, vanilla, chocolate, and coconut. It is covered in powdered sugar or grated coconut. Nuts, honey and dark chocolate can also be added to the product. The process of making Loukoumi Geroskipou requires time and patience, making it very difficult to imitate the original flavor. It was first produced in 1895 by Sophocles Athanasiou and has been made to the same recipe ever since. NIGHT AT THE HOTE
