Ready to discover Utah’s hidden gems on horseback? Capitol Reef National Park lies in southern Utah and stretches over 100 miles (160 km) in a long, narrow formation.
Due to its remote location and lack of major roads, it is considered “one of Utah’s best-kept secrets.” Despite its stunning geological features, it doesn't attract the crowds seen in other parks, making it a peaceful haven for those seeking to escape mass tourism.
Famous for its Native American heritage and early pioneer history, Capitol Reef is a geological wonderland. Early settlers called it “the land of rainbows” because of its colorful sandstone cliffs, desert flora nourished by flowing streams, and vibrant blue skies. On horseback, you’ll ride along these shaded streams framed by majestic canyon walls, explore traces of Native cultures, and learn how early pioneers lived — spending the evenings gathered around the campfire.
Our focus will be on the Pleasant Creek Falls area, one of the most scenic spots in the park, with views of Boulder Mountain, stunning white and red sandstone, ancient pine trees, and peaceful waterfalls.
Transfer from Salt Lake City or Las Vegas airport to Torrey is not included; car rental is recommended (transfers available on request). Torrey is a small town with about 200 residents located near the western entrance of Capitol Reef.

Day 2:
TORREY / PLEASANT CREEK FALLS (-/L/D)
After breakfast, a short transfer to Notom where you’ll meet your horses and load your luggage into the 4x4 support vehicles. By 9:00 AM, we’ll be on horseback heading toward Pleasant Creek, riding through canyons marked with ancient Native American inscriptions.
Arrival in the afternoon at the base camp near the waterfalls.
Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
Day 3:
PLEASANT CREEK FALLS (B/L/D)
Full day on horseback exploring Tantalus and Lower Bown’s, historic sites in the heart of the desert.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4:
PLEASANT CREEK FALLS (B/L/D)
Another full day of riding through multicolored canyons.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5:
PLEASANT CREEK FALLS / TORREY / SALT LAKE CITY or LAS VEGAS / ITALY (B/L/-)
We’ll prepare our luggage and enjoy one final ride toward Miners Mountain and on to Grover, where we’ll leave the horses and return by vehicle.
Return to Salt Lake City or Las Vegas with your rental car (transfers available on request at an additional cost), or continue your trip. Contact us for a personalized quote.

PACE: 4–6 hours per day in the saddle. Terrain is often rocky. Trails are selected based on participants’ skill levels. The main pace is walking, but there will be opportunities to canter where the terrain allows.
WHAT TO BRING: Towel and soap, layered clothing including rain gear and pants, bandana (for dust), hat, gloves, flashlight, swimsuit, spare batteries/power bank, insect repellent.

Night 1: Hotel in Torrey
Nights 2, 3, 4: Camping
The first night is spent at a hotel in Torrey. The following three nights are in a comfortable, low-impact fixed tented camp located near key attractions. Provided: mattress, sheets, pillow, blanket, sleeping bag, bottled water, protective helmet (mandatory for under 18s). A shower tent and toilet facilities are available.
Meals included from lunch on Day 2 to lunch on Day 5.
You may bring your own alcoholic beverages (available at local drugstores Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM).
