Jour 1: Rodia

ITALY / RHODES / LAERMA (-/-/D)
According to an ancient legend, Rhodes was the island chosen by the Sun God Apollo as his home. This may be why it is known as the Island of the Sun, with over 300 days of blue skies a year!
Rhodes is an island with a dual soul, both traditional and modern, a true concentration of history where you can retrace the ancient splendor of Classical Greece. It is the largest island of the Dodecanese archipelago and the easternmost of the main Aegean islands. Located just over 18 km from the Turkish coast, it is world-famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The island is well worth visiting for its medieval castles, archaeological sites, sleepy villages, and stunning beaches. Not to be missed is the Old Town of Rhodes, the largest medieval city in Europe, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
In addition to its rich history, Rhodes offers 200 km of coastline with beaches for every taste. On the eastern side, more sheltered from the winds, you will find the most popular beaches, while the northern coast features wilder and more remote shores. The western coast is characterized by rugged cliffs alternating with pebble coves, whereas the eastern coast boasts sandy beaches with shallow waters. The most beautiful beaches are located on the north-eastern side of the island, between Rhodes Town and Lindos—among the finest in Greece.

Arrival at Rhodes International Airport. Airport pick-up (on request, to be paid locally: €120 per transfer for up to 4 people) and transfer to your hotel in Laerma. Time to relax, followed by dinner with your guide, a short tour briefing, and overnight at the hotel.
